IN 2007 the Toukley Ladies Community First Two Day Golf Tournament broke with tradition and was run in late March instead of February. We had hoped to avoid the worst of the heat but the 22nd and 23rd March were to prove two of the hottest days of the month! Despite this over a hundred players from all over the local district and Sydney played each day and competed for some great trophies. The winner of the 36 hole stroke event was well known local Tuggerah Lakes player - Kim Burke with a gross score of 151. The nett winner was Toukley's own Yvonne Boardman with a nett score of 154. The best stableford score over 36 holes was produced by Rachel Robinson, a very promising young Toukley player with 85 points. She played so well that she reduced her handicap from 23 to 16 over the course of the tournament. All the ladies that played with her commented on her excellent attitude and demeanour. At the other end of the scale the best stableford score over 36 holes for the veterans, went to another Tuggerah Lakes player - Heather Mertell with 80 points. We are very grateful to our sponsors Community First Credit Union who were previously known as Elcom Credit Union, Suzanne Jane Jewellery, Joyce Mayne, and the Bridge View Motel for the continuing support they have shown to the Toukley Lady Golfers. It is also important to thank all those Toukley members including a number of men, who worked hard behind the scenes spotting, making tea, scoring, starting the field, marshalling, providing drinks and any number of jobs that are necessary to the success of any tournament.
