2015 CCDGA Pennants Finalised….Toukley win Sterland Shield 5 Years in a Row!!

Toukley have won the prestigious CCDGA Sterland Shield for the fifth year in a row as the District’s strongest overall club.

In B grade, Toukley finished midfield in a strong division with 5 competition points and 10 matches. In C grade, Toukley again battled strong competition to finish second in the division with 8 points and 12 ½ matches. Our junior team put up a strong effort to finish on top of the points ladder with 6 points and 17 ½ matches, but unfortunately lost a very close final to Shelley Beach. The teams tied at 3 matches each at the conclusion of normal play, resulting in a sudden death playoff by the number one players. The epic playoff went to the 6th extra hole before our number one, Darcy Boyd just missed out on continuing the match.

The star performers of the year were our A graders, who successfully defended their A grade pennant win in 2014. Toukley comfortably won our division, finishing with 15 points and 36 matches to book a spot in the final against Magenta Shores. Toukley won the final 5 matches to 2 over the testing layout at The Springs. Toukley Number one player, David Willett bested U.S. college player, Peter Lamaris in a thrilling finish on the 18th. It was a strong overall team effort from our A graders, well managed by Director Brian Needs. The A grade team comprised David and Beau Willett, Kenton and Darcy Boyd, Steve Eaton, James Denniss, Nathan Marsh, Richie Phillips, Sean McDonagh and Clint Donsworth. It reflects the spirit of Toukley Golf Club to see two father and son combinations in our A grade team. I am sure the other Clubs will enjoy a stirring rendition of our “Toukley Oukley” song at the District Presentation night!

The overall performance saw Toukley retain the Sterland Shield by one point over Shelley Beach. The Committee would like to thank all the players, managers and supporters for a great effort in continuing Toukley’s reign as the premier CCDGA club.
