Key Street, Toukley NSW 2263

Toukley have won the prestigious CCDGA Sterland Shield for the seventh year in a row as the District’s strongest overall club.

In B grade, Toukley won a strong division with 14 competition points and 18.5 matches to put them in the final against Wyong. In C grade, Toukley again battled strong competition to finish first on 11 competition points to reach the final against Kooindah Waters. Our junior team put up a strong effort to finish tied with Shelley Beach on top of the points ladder with 10 points and 29.5 match points. Our A grade side comfortably won their division, finishing with 16 competition points and 46.5 match points to put them in the final against Shelley Beach.

The Junior final against Shelley Beach at Everglades on Saturday 1/4/17 proved a close contest with Shelley Beach eventually winning 4 ½ to 1 ½ after Shelley Beach player James Linnet holed a crucial putt on the 19th to secure the victory. District officials commented on the outstanding ability and sportsmanship displayed by both teams.

Our B and C grade teams faced off against Wyong and Kooindah Waters respectively, in the finals at Shelley Beach on Sunday 2/4/17. In B grade, the Wyong team proved too strong to win a close tussle 2 matches to 1. Our C graders put in an outstanding effort to sit at 1 match each and the decider poised for an exciting finish next Saturday on the 20th hole after darkness prevented the completion of the final. Unfortunately, Kooindah prevailed in the play off to defeat our brave C graders 2 matches to 1. Our A grade side avenged last years’ defeat by overcoming a very strong Shelley Beach side 4.5 matches to 2.5. Our already strong A grade time was bolstered this year by the addition of plus handicapper Brent White. I am sure the other Clubs will enjoy a stirring rendition of our “Toukley Oukley” song at the District Presentation night by our A Grade team!

The overall performance saw Toukley retain the Sterland Shield as the strongest overall Club in the District for the seventh year in a row. The Committee would like to thank all the players, managers and supporters for a great effort in continuing Toukley’s reign as the premier CCDGA club.
