Toukley has won the 2014 Encourage Shield NSW State final. The Encourage shield is conducted each year under guidelines set out by the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation and is designed as an introduction to pennant golf for our younger players. Any juniors who have previously played a scratch junior pennant match or an Eric Apperley Shield match are not eligible to compete. Only three Central Coast clubs were able to field teams, namely Toukley, Shelley Beach and Everglades. Toukley won the CCDGA series, qualifying for the State playoffs.

Toukley defeated a Newcastle combined team at Charlestown Golf Club on Sunday 14/12/14 in a thrilling playoff. Toukley went on to easily win their next playoff at The Vintage to make the State finals played on the 19th and 20th of January at Newcastle Golf Club.

In the semi-final on day one of the playoffs, Toukley easily defeated a strong Richmond team to make the final. In an exciting final, Toukley players shone at the business end of their matches to comfortably win the final.

This fantastic effort by our Encourage Shield players, managers and parents gives Toukley our first ever team State title. In previous years our Apperley Shield and Junior teams have reached the final and semi final stages respectively.

The Encourage Shield team comprises:- Blake Hayhow, Keegan Phillips, Annika Boyd, Will Denniss, Cameron Whitmore, Dylan Moore and Jordan Pereira. Joint managers are Kenton Boyd, James Denniss and Rick Denniss.

The Committee would like to thank the players, managers and parents on this outstanding effort.
